inflections on the 4th of july 2019

the american yankee forces took over
the landing strips once controlled by
canada geese migrating from new foundland
and established a picket fence all around it

the british general, sir longo pearce
meaner than a rabid skunk
was unable to stem the tide
of history and its ruts

though he had his dragoons' chieftain
calculate the angle of the dangle on
his boxwood slide rule and consulted
pascal's triangle - the yanks took

the geese's airport and the battle royal
became just another footnote in
noel chompsky's diary of july 4 2019

the rewritten history of our
glorious american declaration of
interdependence has finally met
its waterloo - the yanks took heathrow

airport single-handed-ly
in one fell swoop on july 4th 1776.

Job 8:11

Can the rush grow up without mire?
can the flag grow without water?
